1. WHAT TRACIN-500 TABLET IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR 
Tracin-500 tablet contains the active drug ciprofloxacin which belongs to a class of compounds known as fluoroquinolones. It has broad spectrum antibacterial actions against organisms such as E. coli, H. influenza, S. aureus and Streptococcus faecalis. Ciprofloxacin inhibits DNA gyrase, preventing bacterial DNA replication. 

2. PRECAUTIONS AND WARNING BEFORE YOU TAKE METRONIDAZOLE TABLET
Contraindication:
• Do not take Tracin-500  tablet if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Ciprofloxacin or any of the ingredients of Tracin-500 tablet or to other fluoroquinolone antibiotics.

Take special care with Tracin-500 tablet if:
• You have CNS disorders or at risk / predisposed to seizures.

Pregnancy and lactation: 
• Do not take Tracin-500 tablet in the first trimester of pregnancy or during breast feeding.
• Drug may appear in breast milk so consider discontinuing breastfeeding or drug therapy to avoid serious toxicity in the infant. 

Taking other medicines:
Please inform your Pharmacist or Doctor if you are taking or about to take any other medicine including those obtained without a prescription.

Driving and using Machines 
Taking Tracin-500 tablet may cause dizziness and impair your ability to perform tasks requiring alertness. Do not therefore operate machinery.

3. HOW TO TAKE TRACIN-500 TABLET
You should take the tablet exactly as your Doctor or Pharmacist directs you.

The tablet is to be swallowed whole without regard to meals; preferably 2 hours after a meal. 

Dosage:
Adults: 500 mg P.O every 12 hours or as directed by your Physician. Drink plenty of fluids during therapy

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECT
Like all medicines, Tracin-500  tablet can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Headache, dizziness, insomnia, hallucinations, depression, seizures, paresthesia, abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, oral candidiasis, pseudomembranous colitis, flushing, rash, erythema, photosensitivity, Steven Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, exfoliative dermatitis, arthralgia, joint, back, chest and neck pain, stiffness, crystalluria and interstitial nephritis  have been reported. 

Possible interactions with food and drugs
Food delays the rate but not the extent of absorption. Aminoglycosides and beta-lactams have synergistic effects so avoid use together. Sucralfate, Iron, minerals and vitamins, antacid supplements containing aluminium, calcium and magnesium may interfere with ciprofloxacin absorption so avoid use together. Also avoid use together of Tracin-500 and drugs such as probenecid, theophylline and caffeine.

5. SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT OF OVER DOSAGE 
Signs and symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, ataxia, seizures and abdominal pain. 

To treat overdose, empty the stomach by induced vomiting or lavage. Provide general supportive measures and maintain hydration. Peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis may be helpful, especially if renal function is compromised 

6. HOW TO STORE METRONIDAZOLE TABLET
Keep Tracin-500 tablets out of reach and sight of children.
Store tablet below 300C.and in the original Package.
Check the expiry date on the Label. Do not use tablet if the expiry date has passed.

7. FURTHER INFORMATION
Each film coated tablet contains Ciprofloxacin HCl equivalent to 500mg of Ciprofloxacin. The other ingredients in Tracin-500  tablet are: Lactose, Sodium Lauryl sulphate, Gelatin, Maize starch, Sodium Methylparaben, Tartrazine yellow, Talc, Sodium starch glycolate, Magnesium Stearate and Silicone Dioxide.
