1. WHAT RIDDLES VITAMIN C TABLET IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
Riddles Vitamin C tablet is a proprietary medicine containing Ascorbic acid as the active ingredient.  Ascorbic acid is an essential water soluble vitamin involved with the biologic oxidations and reductions used in cellular respiration. It influences tyrosine metabolism, conversion of folic acid to folinic acid, carbohydrate metabolism and resistance to infections. Deficiency causes degenerative changes in the capillaries, bone and connective tissue known as scurvy which can be reversed with adequate intake.

3. HOW TO TAKE RIDDLES VITAMIN C TABLET
• Adults and Children 12years and above: one tablet 2 - 3 times daily.

It may be taken directly or mixed with food. Prolonged use of large doses causes increased metabolism of ascorbic acid; scurvy may result when reduced to normal. But conditions that elevate the metabolic rate (hyperthyroidism, fever, infection, burns, postoperative states, neoplastic disease and chronic alcoholism) significantly increase ascorbic acid requirements.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Riddles Vitamin C tablets can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Side effects like diarrhea, faintness, dizziness, acid urine, oxaluria, renal calculi and discomfort at injection site have been reported.

Possible interactions with food and drugs
It may lower urine pH causing renal reabsorption of acidic drugs while basic drugs like tricyclic antidepressants may cause decreased reabsorption and therapeutic effect. Salicylates inhibit ascorbic acid uptake by leukocytes and platelets while sulphonamides may cause crystallization; avoid use together. It may inhibit the anticoagulant effect of warfarin while influencing the intensity and duration of dicumarol. It may also increase the plasma levels of ethinyl estradiol and iron absorption from the GI tract by maintaining it in the ferrous state. Smoking may however decrease serum levels.

5. SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT OF OVERDOSAGE
Excessively high doses of ascorbic acid are excreted really and rarely accumulate. Serious adverse effects or toxicity are uncommon. Severe effects require discontinuation of therapy.
