1. WHAT MULTIVITAMIN TABLET IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR 
Multivitamin Tablet is a combination medicine containing five (5) active ingredients, namely, Vitamin A, Thiamine hydrochloride (vitamin B1), Riboflavine phosphate (vitamin B2), Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) and Nicotinamide (vitamin B3). These vitamins form part of co-enzymes essential for the metabolism of protein, carbohydrate and fatty acid in the body. Vitamin A prevents growth retardation and fetal malformations, preserves the integrity of epithelial cells and eye vision. The synergistic actions of all five (5) agents in the body may help boost appetite, correct deficiencies and enhance vitality.

2. PRECAUTIONS AND WARNING BEFORE YOU TAKE MULTIVITAMIN TABLET 

Contraindication:
• Do not take Multivitamin tablet if you are allergic or hypersensitive to the active drugs or any of the ingredients of Multivitamin tablet, or you have malabsorption syndrome. 

Pregnancy and Lactation:
• Inform your physician when taking any drug including Multivitamin Tablet, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy.
• Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should not take Multivitamin tablet in high doses exceeding the recommended daily allowance of the respective vitamins. 

Take special care with Multivitamin Tablet if: 
You have kidney or liver disease, diverticular disease, peptic ulcer, iron metabolism disorder, blood clotting disorder, sickle cell and hemolytic anemia.

Taking other Medicines:
Please inform your Pharmacist or Doctor if you are taking or about to take any other medicine, including those obtained without a prescription.

Driving and using Machines 
Multivitamin tablet is not known to cause sedation or dizziness, and will not adversely affect operating machinery or any activity that requires alertness.

3. HOW TO TAKE MULTIVITAMIN TABLET
• Adults should take a maximum oral dose of 1tablet 3- 4 times daily.
• Children 12 years and above should take a maximum oral dose of 1tablet 1-2 times daily.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, Multivitamin tablet can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Niacin flush resulting in redness, tingling and increased warmth rarely occurs. Increased intracranial pressure, malaise, anorexia, vomiting, hypomenorrhea, jaundice, exophthalmos, alopecia, dry, cracked, scaly skin, anaphylactic shock have been reported with toxic levels of vitamin A. Side effects like diarrhea, rash, urticaria may arise as a result of sensitivity to any of the excipients used in the product. 

Possible interactions with food and drugs 
B vitamins prevent the absorption of tetracycline and interferes with its activity hence should not be taken concurrently. Interactions of vitamin A with cholestyramine, mineral oil, neomycin, orlistat resulting in reduced absorption have been also reported.

5. SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT OF OVER DOSAGE 
Early onset Leber’s hereditary optic neuropathy, anxiety or panic attacks, difficulty breathing and palpitations, rash and stomach upset have been rarely reported in overdosage with B vitamins. In cases of acute toxicity with vitamin A, increased intracranial pressure develops within 8-12 hours; cutaneous desquamation follows in a few days.

These symptoms are mostly self limiting and may require symptomatic treatment and discontinuation of multivitamin tablet administration where necessary. IV saline solution, prednisolone and calcitonin may be given, if indicated.

6. HOW TO STORE MULTIVITAMIN TABLET                                                                                                                                                                           Keep tablet out of reach or sight of children and stored below 300c. Keep it in the original package. Check the expiry date on the label and do not use product if expired.  

7. FURTHER INFORMATION
In addition to Vitamin A, D3, Thiamine hydrochloride, Riboflavine Phosphate and Nicotinamide, the other ingredients in Multivitamin tablet are: Lactose, maize starch, gelatin, sodium methylparaben, tartrazine, magnesium stearate and Talc.
